Lacrosse strength training starts as a team in November. This a key component (and biggest adjustment for most) to have success at the high school level as the game is faster and more physical and this will help prevent injuries.
The team will have a couple of groups that play in the indoor winter league in East Windsor at Sportsworld. If you get on our communication list, more information will follow. This league is organized and run by our booster club.
Know that we typically play games during spring break and will definitely practice. If we field a 3rds team, there may be an abbreviated schedule for spring break, but that will be communicated after tryouts.
To ensure everyone is ready for the season, players are encouraged to come in fit and prepared. Getting out to run or do some conditioning on their own before practices begin will make a big difference. We try to provide team pre-season workouts through other avenues when possible, though they aren’t always available.
Practice times will vary. Spring is a hectic time, and lacrosse (b/g), rugby (b/g), and track are all trying to share the turf field. Most practices start around 5pm or 7pm.
Lastly, lacrosse is one of those sports where YOU can help your success. Your stick skills can continually improve, and the more you do on your own, the better off you will be. You don’t need to practice for hours a day…a simple 10-15 minutes on a wall a couple times a week will go a long way!
